Have you heard of a church that is made of paper? Paper dome is a temporary church constructed using paper tubes. It was built in 1995 to serve as a temporary church after Great Hanshin earthquake in Kobe This church was then donated to Taomi Village in Puli Township, Nantou County in Taiwan because of 921 earthquake. It was shipped to Nantou in 2006 and is now one of the top attractions in Nantou.
Paper Dome is not just a tourist attraction. It is also a platform to exchange earthquake reconstruction experience and to educate people. Exhibitions of concerts, local artists and other activities are commonly held here. Tourist feedbacks here are quite extreme. If you understand the meaning behind this church, you will appreciate it. But if you are expecting to see a very grand building, you may be disappointed. The video below will be very useful for you.
